An “advanced” yoga student is not someone who can practice skillfully on there own. This definition - which I first heard from Judith Lasater - has been echoed by every teacher that I have study with. Of course, practicing on your own is easier said than done. This week long intensive will focus on starting or refining our ability to practice thoughtfully on our own mat.
On the first day of the intensive, I will present a framework for practice which we will work with over the course of the week. On the subsequent days we will work in structured self practice periods during which I - and assistants if needed - will be walking around the room to help students with their practice. There will also be time dedicated to sharing our experiences with our fellow practitioners as well as opportunities to troubleshoot/field questions about practice as a group.
This program is part of the Yoga Studies Course but is also open to anyone with a dedicated practice - whether it is one their own or in a group class setting. Students can drop-in on single days however it is helpful to attend Monday so that they can understand the format of practice. If you can not attend Monday please email me so I can send you a written description of the format.
Please bring a notebook, mat, water bottle and an eye covering.
